Great Trees, Grizzly Giant.

There seems to be some debate on the actual title of this 1876 piece by Albert Bierstadt. Some sources call it “The Grizzly Giant Sequoia, Mariposa Grove, California.” While others call it “The Great Trees, Mariposa Grove, California.” Either way, it’s an impressive painting of an even more impressive tree. The actual tree, “The Grizzly Giant” located in the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National Park is estimated to be around 3,000 years old with a height of 209 feet and a circumference of 96.5 feet. Not quite as large, but still very impressive is the original canvas piece by Bierstadt housed in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It measures an impressive 10 feet tall and 5 feet wide.
