Sierra Nevada.

The Sierra Nevada Mountains must've had an incredible impact on the German American painter Albert Bierstadt. After accompanying expeditions in the American West in the 1850s and 1860s, he sketched and painted dozens of works, with many of them portraying the the beautifully rugged Sierra Nevada Mountains.

This work portrays a pristine mountain lake being filled by a cascading waterfall receiving runoff from the imposing jagged peaks surrounding the lake; all while a few deer take in the amazing scene.
